Country Music Wanes

Radio promoters are lamenting that the Southwest -- Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas -- once known as the best place to break country music, is now the last place likely to break a new act or get airplay on a new single.

According to a senior VP of promotion at Warner Bros. Nashville, "...if you're not
George Strait, the Southwest is absolutely the hardest place to start any record, whether it's an established act or a new artist."

That's why he's known as King George, ya'll.
